Service Description

Our general yoga classes at Anahata are designed to include all the fundamental principles of yoga practice, with the core of our class practicing various asanas ranging from foundational to advanced. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced practitioner, general yoga classes typically cater to a wide range of skill levels and ages. Here's what you can expect in a general yoga class: Physical Postures (Asanas): Yoga classes usually start with a series of asanas or yoga poses. These poses vary in difficulty and are designed to stretch and strengthen different parts of the body. Common asanas include Downward Dog, Warrior poses, Tree pose, and the Child's pose. Breathing Exercises (Pranayama): Breath control is an essential part of yoga. You will learn various breathing techniques to enhance your lung capacity, calm your mind, and synchronize your breath with your movements. Techniques like Ujjayi breath and alternate nostril breathing are commonly taught. Relaxation and Meditation: Most yoga classes include a period of relaxation and meditation. This can involve guided meditation or simply lying down in Savasana (Corpse pose) to relax and let go of tension. Meditation helps to improve focus, reduce stress, and enhance mental clarity. Alignment and Adjustments: Instructors often focus on proper alignment to prevent injuries and maximize the benefits of each pose. They may provide physical adjustments or use props like blocks and straps to help students achieve the correct alignment. Chanting and Mantras: Some yoga classes incorporate chanting and the repetition of mantras (sacred sounds or words) as part of the practice, especially in more traditional forms of yoga like Kundalini or Bhakti yoga. Modifications for All Levels: Most of our general yoga classes are open to all levels, and instructors often provide variations or modifications to make the practice accessible to beginners and challenging for more advanced students.
